Radio NDERAGAKURA
PROJECT
Project Objectives:

• Renew and rehabilitate the technology, equipment and buildings at the present radio production site so that the radio can have good working conditions.

• Give education and training to radio staff, technicians and producers, so that the radio can have an effective program production.

• Make it possible for the radio to broadcast at the right point of time for the different group of listeners.

• Make it possible to increase the brodcast time for educational programs to at least 3 hours per day.

• Contribute to the development of relevant programs with supporting material.
Implementation:

• Rehabilitation of the old school radio studio, building and production equipment.

• Building of new blocks with maintenance-, archive- , meeting, storage and office rooms.

• Building of a transmission studio and installation of new production equipment.

• Develop a transmitter network that covers the whole country.

• Arrange training for the radio staff in radio production with particularly focus on school radio programs.

• Arrange seminars and courses for the radio staff in relevant themes for Burundi such as Human rights, Reconciliation, Aids information etc.

• Develop educational radio programs for the class room.

• Develop school material to follow up the school radio lessons.
The project started in Burundi September 1998 and ended in December 2001
 
The project was financed by NORAD (Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation) and Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC).
 
NRC is the implementing partner together with the Burundian Ministry of Education.
